Reserve Bank of India deputy governor SS Mundra inaugurated Bank of India (BoI) museum on Monday (01 June) at the bank’s main branch in Mumbai. The occasion was also used to release Abhik Ray’s book The Bank of India - 100 years of Prudential Banking.
This is the first book of its kind to showcase the bank’s association with India’s Independence movement. Mahatma Gandhi as well as other top political leaders were also connected with the institution as a customer.

The book takes a close look at the history of BoI as a whole. After the nationalisation of banks in 1969, the BoI aligned its activities and services with the economic plans of the Union government and expanded the scope of banking to the farthest corners of the country to reach people from every strata of society.
VR Iyer, chairperson and managing director, BoI, and BP Sharma, ED, were among the other dignitaries present at the event.
