Yamaha Establishes New motorcycle R And D Center In India

Yamaha Motor has established Yamaha Motor Research and Development India (YMRI) in Surajpur.

This initiative is intended to increase Yamaha’s manufacturing competitiveness in the country. The function of the India Procurement Center established last year has been transferred and incorporated into the new company, and will now operate as the India Integrated Development Center.

YMRI was established in February this year to function as the core of the second Integrated Development Center, following the establishment of the ASEAN Integrated Development Center in Thailand last year. The YMRI will be the fifth overseas R&D headquarters for Yamaha Motor Group following Italy, Taiwan, China, and Thailand.

Future plans include the setup of the new Chennai site to develop models intended for the Indian market and Global market, based on model platforms developed in Japan.

The West Bokaro Division of Tata Steel bagged 14 awards at the 55th Annual Mines Safety Week-2012, (Ranchi – Koderma Region). The awards reinforce the best practices in mining that Tata Steel implements ensuring safety and sustainability.

Quarry South East was declared the 2nd Best Opencast mine in Category – A. The Quarry South East also won the first prize in the Dust Separation & Fire Control segment along with Lighting & Illumination, Dozer and Excavation & Shovel segments. The Quarry South East also clinched the top spots in 5 different segments in the individual categories.

Rahul Guha, Directorate General of Mines Safety, Government of India was the chief guest for the occasion. The event was also graced by the presence of Mr. Gopal Singh, CMD (Central Coalfields Limited), Mr Sanjay Rajoria, GM (West Bokaro), Tata Steel and other dignitaries from the region.

ISBT To Go Live With Tikona Digital Networks
The Maharana Pratap Inter-State bus terminus (ISBT) will now be enabled with Tikona Digital Networks (TDN) secured wireless broadband Wi-Fi connectivity.

Commuters from surrounding states can browse at the terminus with high speed Wi-Fi free of charge for the first 30 minutes, adding a whole new dimension of convenience and experience to their journey. This initiative also underscores the need for deeper penetration of broadband among general public. Institutions like ISBT deploying next generation high speed secured wireless broadband is a welcoming initiative.

ZTE  Launches 3G Data Card in the Indian Open Market With WiFi Capability
ZTE Telecom India a provider of telecommunications equipment, network solutions, enterprise products and solutions and mobile devices, has announced the launch of data card in the Indian Open Market.

ZTE is initially introducing two models of the data card in the open market. The two models available are with 14.4 mbps download speed which is a WiFi enabled hotspot and 7.2 mbps download speed respectively. Both Data cards can connect to USB port of a tablet & laptop. The data card with  14.4 mbps download speed has an  option to connect with a USB charger and the connection can be shared via WiFi with up to 5 devices.

ZTE has partnered with Digilife Distribution and Marketing Services, a subsidiary of HCL Infosystems, for channel distribution and Flipkart.com for its online sales. To begin with the data card with 14.4 mbps speed will be available through Flipkart.com whereas the data card with 7.2 mbps download speed will be available through both, channel partner and online. The cost of   the data card with 14.4 mbps download speed  is Rs. 2250 whereas   the data card with 7.2 mbps download speed is Rs 1799.
 
Promart Ties Up With Franchise India For 100 Franchisees
Promart Retail, a discount retail chain, has announced their partnership with Franchise India. As a part of this tie-up, Promart will open 25 franchisees every quarter and expects a growth of 15-20 per cent y-o-y.

The company is targeting Tier II-Tier VI cities which is a part of their overall business strategy to further accelerate their presence in India. Tata Communications Delivers Unified Communications For Mott MacDonald
Tata Communications, a leading provider of A New World of Communications, has announced that it has been selected by Mott MacDonald as its global telecommunications partner for the next five years in a deal worth over $20 million.

Tata Communications was chosen as a result of its comprehensive range of integrated and unified communications solutions – solutions that will allow the diverse global management, engineering and development consultancy to consolidate its multiple regional systems onto a single platform. The move will create new levels of global collaboration as well as a solid competitive advantage.

The deal marks a strategic alliance between the two companies which will provide renewed centralised communications for Mott MacDonald. Tata Communications’ redesign of its WAN environment and infrastructure for global unified communications will enable Mott MacDonald to centralise business collaboration tools such as document management systems into the cloud, allowing enhanced accessibility for projects requiring real-time international collaboration. It will also create new levels of communication throughout the organisation, optimising Mott MacDonald’s investment in Microsoft Lync as the common global communications tool for both internal and external communication.

10th Honeywell-Sponsored Nobel Laureate Event In India
Honeywell has introduced Professor David Gross, Nobel laureate in Physics, to the students and faculty of College of Engineering, Pune, India, as part of its global Honeywell Initiative for Science & Engineering (HISE).

Gross is among 22 Nobel laureates that Honeywell has sponsored at universities worldwide since 2006.  The event marks the tenth time a Honeywell program has been delivered to a university in India, and the third time the program has taken place at the College of Engineering, Pune. Over the years the program has benefitted thousands of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) students and teachers across the country.

Gross was awarded the 2004 Nobel Prize in Physics for the discovery of ‘asymptotic freedom’ in nuclear interactions in 1973, which proved that as particles move closer to other particles, the nuclear force between them becomes so weak that they behave almost as free particles. This discovery established quantum chromodynamics (QCD) as the correct theory of the strong nuclear force, one of the four fundamental forces in Nature. The other forces are gravity, electromagnetism, and the weak nuclear force.
