"Woman empowerment is a critical factor for nation's development and will remain his long-term agenda going forward", said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing people at the 8th edition of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES) in Hyderabad with Ivanka Trump, United States President Donald Trump's daughter and advisor.

Prime Minister also stated that astronauts like Kalpana Chawla and Sunita Williams were part of US Space mission. He also said that Hyderabad itself is home to world-renowned sportswomen like Saina Nehwal, PV Sandhu and Sania Mirza who have got laurels for the country.

Focusing more on women empowerment, PM Modi further added, "Woman is an incarnation of Shakti, the goddess of power, we believe women empowerment is vital to our development. Every developmental project has had an immense contribution from women. From our successful space projects to our government ministries, everything has women contributing to a great extent. More than 70 million loans have been transferred to Women Entrepreneurs. More than 50 per cent delegates at the GES are women. Furthermore, more than 60 percent of workers in the agricultural and allied sector are women."

The annual business meet, which is also the eighth edition this year and co-sponsored by the United States, is held for the first time in South Asia. The theme for the three-day summit beginning is "Women First, Prosperity for All".

PM also said, "The summit not only connects Silicon Valley with Hyderabad but showcases the close ties between India and America. The power to think ahead of the curve is for the betterment of humankind and that is what sets these budding entrepreneurs apart. I foresee 800 million potential entrepreneurs who can make our world a better place to live. The Startup India scheme is a comprehensive action plan to boost those innovations and young entrepreneurs."

Ivanka Trump, who is also US President Donald Trump's daughter maintained, "Transformational change proved by you from selling tea in your childhood to becoming PM of India. India has ably lifted over 130 million people out of poverty through entrepreneurship under the leadership of PM. Here in India, I want to applaud Prime Minister for his firm belief that the progress of humanity is incomplete without the empowerment of women."
