Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar on Monday clapped back at Elon Musk’s Twitter poll by tweeting that it doesn’t matter who heads the social media platform.

The Minister suggested that the focus for Musk should be compliance with law, rules and guardrails instead of worrying about who leads the now-contentious social media platform.

Twitter CEO Elon Musk on Monday asked Twitter users to vote on whether he should step down as the platform’s leader. He said that he would abide by results of the poll.

So far, the poll suggests that 56.8 per cent Twitter users want Musk to step down and pick someone else instead as the company’s CEO.

The poll closes at 4:50 pm IST.

This poll by Musk came after Twitter’s policy update, which restricts accounts created on Twitter just to promote other social media firms and content that includes links or usernames directing to other social media platforms.

But minutes after introducing the update, Musk apologised and tweeted that Twitter would ask for votes before making any major policy changes hereon.

Last month, Musk told a US court that he would reduce time at Twitter and find a new leader for the company.

Elon Musk runs four other high-value companies including SpaceX, Tesla, Neuralink and The Boring Company. Tesla investors, especially, have been on the edge of their seats ever since the maverick leader took on the mantle of CEO at Twitter.
