WhatsApp has announced that it is expanding its joinable calls feature to group chats. Initially launched in July, the feature allows users to join an ongoing group call after it has begun. With this latest update, users can call a WhatsApp group and join the call directly from the group chat.

This feature will be useful for those who use WhatsApp for video chats and voice calls. If you are leaving the call for some reasons, you will get the option to rejoin the same call, if it is still going on.

After the new update, only the notification of group video call will be shown and that will display the name of the group instead of participant names.

The group video call will appear in the chat window itself, so that you will be able to join a group video call easily. As soon as group calling starts in a WhatsApp group, all the members will see a join button and by clicking on this any member will be able to join the group call at any time.

WhatsApp has recently announced end-to-end encrypting of chat backups, keeping in mind the privacy of users. Simply putting, WhatsApp chats backed up on Google Drive or iCloud will now also be encrypted. This eliminates the risk of chat leaking as no one e will be able to access your chat after it is encrypted.
