The West Bengal government is likely to place the state budget for the 2023-24 fiscal in the assembly on 15 February 2023. The budget session of the assembly started from 8 February 2023.

According to sources, the budget this year will see focus on boost on the start-up and manufacturing sector. Sources say that the Mamata Banerjee led Trinamool Congress government in West Bengal has been focusing extensively on employment growth in the state and the budget will witness some sops in this direction too.

It may be recalled that the West Bengal Industrial Development Corporation (WBIDC) and Confederation of West Bengal Trade Association has been organising trade fairs in the state to promote entrepreneurship and also, bring start ups into the limelight.

The recent fair held in January this year saw over a 100 start ups from the state registering to get government support. A source in the state government said that the government had already launched the State Startup Resource Centre at Kolkata and 23 Acceleration Centres in various districts, which have led the startup boom in the Eastern state.

The startup hub aims at providing access to knowledge to district Accelerator, create a networking ecosystem with mentors and experts and also, kick-starter fund supporters.
