WR-V Surpasses City As Honda Cars India’s Highest Selling Vehicle For Second Time In 2017

This is the second time, in the calendar year 2017, Honda Cars India's WR-V has sold more units than Honda City. Earlier this feat was achieved by Honda WR-V during July 2017

Honda Cars India’s crossover vehicle Honda WR-V has surpassed its premium sedan Honda City as the company’s highest selling model for the month of November 2017. 

In November, while Honda City sold 3,315 units, Honda WR-V sold 3,521 units (206 units more).

This is the second time, in the calendar year 2017, WR-V has sold more units than City. Earlier this feat was achieved by Honda WR-V during July 2017. However, during July, the difference between the two models was of 40 units.

Post its launch on March 16, 2017, Honda WR-V has given a tough competition to City. Prior to WR-V, the competition was between two sedans - City and Amaze.

Honda WR-V

India is the first market to launch Honda WR-V globally, and it is the company's first model developed by Honda R&D in India along with Honda R&D, Japan.

The crossover is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.2L SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine churns out power of 90PS @ 6000rpm, and torque of 110Nm @ 4800rpm. It is priced at Rs 766,539 (S MT), and Rs 888,936 (VX MT).

The 1.5L DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine churns out output of 100PS @ 3600rpm, and torque of 200Nm @ 1750rpm. It is priced at Rs 871,868 (S MT), and Rs 991,551 (VX MT).

WR-V measures 3,999mm X 1,734mm X 1,601mm, with wheelbase of 255mm, ground clearance of 188mm, and boot space of 363L.

Coming to safety features, Honda WR-V comes equipped with dual srs front airbags, anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution, impact mitigating front headrest, pedestrian injury mitigation technology, intelligent pedal, and multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines (only in VX grade).

Honda City

The sedan is available in both petrol and diesel engine options. The 1.4L SOHC i-VTEC petrol engine churns out power of 119PS @ 6600rpm, and torque of 145Nm @ 4600rpm. It is priced at Rs 858,123 - Rs 13,56,635.

The 1.6L DOHC i-DTEC diesel engine churns out output of 100PS @ 3600rpm, and torque of 200Nm @ 1750rpm. It is priced at Rs 10,83,808 - Rs 13,62,300.

WR-V measures 4,440mm X 1,695mm X 1,495mm, with wheelbase of 2600mm.

Coming to safety features, Honda City comes equipped with dual front airbags (6 in higher variants), anti-lock braking system with electronic brake distribution, impact mitigating front headrest, immobilizer with anti-theft alarm, rear ISOFIX anchors and tether, and multi-angle rearview camera with guidelines.
