India’s own full-service carrier Vistara reported a profitable quarter between October to December on Monday. Vistara is now the joint venture of Tata sons and Singapore Airlines. This is the first time the company has reported profit ever since it started its operations in January 2015.

The airline informed that its revenue crossed USD 1 billion and it clocked a net profit, excluding foreign currency loss and non-operating income, in the October-December quarter of 2022.

As air travel is expanding after the pandemic, Tata-owned Vistara is set to place an order for some 495 new planes for Air India as it looks to revamp the airline and merge it with Vistara to create a bigger full-service carrier to take on Middle Eastern rivals like Emirates, the company stated.

Vistara also added that its international network expanded by more than 180 per cent in 2022 and its domestic network grew by more than 50 per cent.
