Virus Hits CAT Site

The official website of the Common Admission Test (CAT) for admission to the IIMs has come under virus atttack, reminding thousands of aspirants about last year's online test ordeal blamed on a similar computer malaise.

The site,, is currently showing warning messages when accessed through certain browsers.

Prometric, the American firm conducting the computer-based test, claimed the problem had been fixed but it would take time for the warnings to disappear.

"A malware was discovered and removed. It will take several hours for the warnings to disappear," the firm said in a statement.

The site provides information about CAT to candidates and does not contain any candidate information. "The alternative site for applications is," the firm said in a statement.

Prometric has advised candidates to use Internet Explorer version 7 or above, or Firefox version 3.0 and above.
