The phenomenon called Virat Kohli continues to rise- both on the cricket field and on the financial front. His stars seem to be moving in the right direction.

A lot of things are happening for him at the moment. He recently scored his 31st ODI ton, climbing up the ladder to the second spot only behind Sachin Tendulkar. And now, a list released by Forbes of world’s most valuable athletes places him at the 7th spot with a brand value of $14.5 million.

The brand value of athletes is their earnings (excluding salary and bonus from their sport and all investment income), minus the average income of the top 10 athletes in the same sport.

Brand Kohli has gained popularity with his consistent performance with the bat, leading the run-scoring charts backed with his aggression. His captaincy stint has been equally wonderful, and is yet to lose a ODI or test bilateral series as a full- time captain.

Kohli’s brand is even higher than football legend Lionel Messi, Golden State Warriors’ basketball player Stephen Curry and Irish golfer Rory McIlory.

The list is headed by Swiss maestro Roger Federer with a brand worth of $37.2 million, followed by basket ball player Lebron James and Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt with brand value of $33.4 million and $27 million respectively. Cristiano Ronaldo Comes 4th with a brand value estimated at $21.5 million.
