The US Federal Aviation Administration on Sunday notified the airspace over Lake Michigan to be temporarily restricted due to national defence reasons.

It added, the airspace was being restricted for "national defence" and didn’t comment on the call of the Pentagon or the FAA.

Meanwhile, the airspace closure follows the shoot-down of a Chinese spy balloon and two unidentified flying objects.

According to reports the US Senate's top lawmaker claims another flying object shot down off the coast of Alaska, both appearing balloon-like. Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau on the other hand suggests Canadian investigators are hunting for the wreckage of the mysterious flying object shot down by a US fighter jet over Yukon Territory.

He added recovery teams are on-ground, looking and analyzing the object. However, the Canadian prime minister didn’t reveal much but hinted it represented a reasonable threat to the security of civilian flights.

The decision is made considering the security of citizens as a top priority, he said.

The US Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer provided more clearance, stating America’s national security officials believe the balloon-like objects were destroyed over Canada and over the sea ice near Deadhorse, Alaska on Friday.

However, the White House confirms only the recently downed objects do not closely resemble the Chinese balloon, echoing Schumer's description of them as "much smaller."
