UP Govt Permits Rahul, Priyanka Gandhi, 3 Others To Visit Lakhimpur Kheri

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi along with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel and newly-elected Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi have boarded a flight for Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh from New Delhi.

Keeping an eye on the ongoing Lakhimpur Kheri incident, which is intensifying day by day, the Uttar Pradesh government, on Wednesday, has allowed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi to visit Lakhimpur, where four farmers lost their lives, amid the violent incident, last Sunday.

The Home Department of Uttar Pradesh Government, on Wednesday, said that they have granted permission to Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, and three other people to visit Lakhimpur Kheri. 

UP government authorities earlier denied permission to Rahul Gandhi to visit the Lakhimpur Kheri district, to prevent any mishaps or disturbance in the law and order situation. 

CM Baghel, who was scheduled to go to Lakhimpur Kheri, on Tuesday also alleged that he was denied entry to the spot and authorities did not allow him to leave the Lucknow airport.

Besides, Uttar Pradesh Officials, on Tuesday, said that a case has been filed in Sitapur against Priyanka Gandhi Vadra and 10 others under sections related to preventive detention due to apprehension of breach of peace.

The officials said that the case is filed under Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC) sections 151, 107, 116 (all related to preventive detention because of apprehension of breach of peace) has also been registered against Ajay Kumar Lallu, Chief of UP Congress and party leader Deependra Hooda.

A total of 8 persons have died in the clash and 4 of them are farmers. According to the protesters, a car from the convoy of Ajay Mishra's son ran over the protesters who were going back, after staging a protest against the controversial farm laws by the Union Government.
