UP Gears Up To Host G20 Events Across Various Cities

The Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath gave guidelines to the officials for the successful organisation of the G-20 conferences to be chaired by India in the year 2023 in a high-level meeting held on Wednesday.

Uttar Pradesh is all set to host G20 events across its various cities in 2023. The summit, scheduled to be held at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi, will be a year-long event that will witness several events in cities like Varanasi, Lucknow, Greater Noida and Agra. The Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took a high level meeting of officials on Wednesday and gave instructions to ensure that the state gets ready for the event. 

Addressing the officials, Yogi said that this global event has brought immense possibilities for Uttar Pradesh. This event is a great platform to introduce 'Brand UP' to the world and the state government should leave no stones unturned to make this a success. 

Yogi said that the infrastructure of cities hosting G20 events should be amplified. Attractive lighting should be arranged at heritage sites of historical and cultural significance in the cities. The roads on the route on which the delegates have to travel should be arranged according to their needs. He said that special attention should be paid to cleanliness, and a week before the date of the program, a special campaign for cleanliness should be conducted. Efforts should be made to make these cities plastic free and the state government and municipal corporations should take support from public representatives and increase public participation.

He added that a G20 Park should be set up in Lucknow. Yogi asked the officials to identify the place and prepare an action plan to complete the park at the earliest. 

The CM also gave instructions to officials of the home department to ensure security arrangements for all delegates during the events. The Home Department should make adequate arrangements for the security of all the delegates. A liaisoning officer should be deployed with each delegate. Proper training should be provided for the liaisoning officer. Strict security arrangements should be made keeping in view the apprehensions of all kinds of external and internal security. Efforts of cybercrime should also be monitored. There should be standard arrangements for ensuring fire safety. Necessary guidance should be taken from the Government of India for better surveillance, intelligence input etc.

Yogi further asked the officials to ensure better internet connectivity in these cities. He said that High-speed internet connectivity as per global standards should be available at the venue. Alternative arrangements should also be made.
