The first session of the 18th Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh began on 23 May. The session started with the address of Governor Anandiben Patel. This is the first assembly session after the formation of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in UP for the second time. Under this, the budget was presented yesterday i.e. on 26 May. This budget is of Rs 6.15 lakh crores. On Friday the budget is to be discussed on the fifth day of this session. The proceedings of the House will start at 11 am.

CM Yogi Adityanath said that this budget is showing the target of development for the next 5 years. It should be called draft budget of bright future. He has termed it as a budget according to the aspirations of the people. Yogi said that the target has been set to provide free solar panels to the farmers.

At the same time, SP supremo Akhilesh Yadav said in a conversation with the media after the presentation of the budget that the Yogi government has always claimed that the income of farmers will be doubled. But so far this has not happened. He also attacked the government on the issue of employment and said that in the announcements all the claims of jobs are made but in reality it is nowhere to be seen. At the same time, he questioned the budget and said that no announcement has been made for the education of children.

On the other hand, BSP chief Mayawati wrote in a tweet in hindi, 'The budget of the UP government is like a blind well in the case of poverty, unemployment and potholes in the state, especially in the public interest and public welfare. The possibility of liberation from the impoverished life of the people is getting eroded.' She further wrote, 'Where were the basic works that should have been done on priority basis by the government of so called double engine to bring a little "acche din" in the lives of crores of people of UP, where were they done. Clearly there is lack of intention, then from where will such a policy be made.'
