Twitter CEO Elon Musk said on Sunday that the microblogging network was working on an upgrade that will include a slew of new capabilities. Later this month, the billionaire stated, the business would release a new upgrade that will allow users to respond to individual direct messages (DM), use any reaction emoji, and employ encryption on the site.

"Aiming to roll out ability to reply to individual DMs, use any reaction emoji & encryption later this month," Musk tweeted on Sunday.

Many people immediately responded to Musk's announcement on Twitter.

Musk also said that Twitter will soon expand longform messages to 10,000 characters. The 51-year-old was responding to a YouTuber who had contacted Musk about adding code blocks to tweets.

In February, the SpaceX boss had indicated that the micro-blogging network will allow users with the chance to alter the algorithm to their "closer fit" in the "coming months".

Meanwhile, the microblogging network has stated that users will be notified if a Community Note appears on a Tweet to which they have responded, liked, or retweeted.

The company tweeted from its @CommunityNotes account: "Starting today, you'll get a heads up if a Community Note starts showing on a Tweet you've replied to, Liked or Retweeted. This helps give people extra context that they might otherwise miss."
