This 73rd Independence Day, let Bollywood reignite the feeling of patriotism among us and help us remember our struggle for freedom. 

Here are top five movies to binge watch on this Independence Day:

1. Raazi 

Directed by Meghna Gulzar, Raazi starring Alia Bhatt who plays the role of a Kashmiri woman who agrees to marry a Pakistani army officer in order to spy on Pakistan during the Indo-Pakistan War or 1971. The movie takes us through an emotional ride as well as teaches us one very important lesson- nothing comes before our country. Vicky Kaushal is featured as Alia’s husband in the film and does justice to the role.

2. Uri: The Surgical Strike

Based on true events, Uri starring Vicky Kaushal is a military action film and is a dramatized account of the retaliation to the 2016 Uri Attack. It follows Major Vihaan Singh Shergill of the Indian Army, who plays a leading role in the events.

3. Airlift

Another movie based on true events, Airlift starrer Akshay Kumar plays the role of a callous Indian businessman who becomes the spokesperson for more than 170,000 stranded countrymen in August, 1990, when Iraq invades Kuwait. The movie gives us Goosebumps and does not ever fail to leave us teary- eyed no matter how many times we’ve watched it. 

4. Chak De! India

Directed by Shimit Amin and produced by Aditya Chopra, Chak De! India stars Shahruk Khan as Kabir Khan, former captain of the Indian men’s national field-hockey team. After a disastrous loss to Pakistan, Khan is ostracized from the sport and he and his mother are driven from the family home by angry neighbours. Seven years later, to redeem himself, Khan becomes the coach of the Indian national women's hockey team and aims to turn its sixteen contentious players into a championship unit.

5. Kesari 

Another blockbuster film Kesari starring Akshay Kumar alongside Parineeti Chopra is based on an incredible true story of the Battle of Saragarhi in which an army of 21 Sikhs fought against 10,000 Afghans in 1897. The Battle of Saragarhi will always be remembered as one of the greatest and the bravest last stands in military history.
