Instagram head Adam Mosseri has revealed that users can now delete their Threads profiles without the need to delete their entire Instagram accounts, providing a more flexible approach to managing their online presence. To initiate this process, users can navigate to Settings, then Account, followed by the option to Delete or Deactivate Profile.

Responding to concerns raised by the community, Threads now also allows users to disable the automatic sharing of their posts to other applications, including Instagram and Facebook. This will give individuals more control over the dissemination of their content across different platforms.

Additionally, Threads recently introduced a feature facilitating the direct display of posts on Facebook and Instagram. The aim was to expand user audiences and increase reach seamlessly. However, recognising the need for control in this aspect as well, Mosseri via a post on Threads, assured users that a new option would allow them to opt out of being featured outside of Threads.

Looking ahead, Mosseri announced that Meta is actively working on a Threads Application Programming Interface (API). While acknowledging potential concerns about an influx of publisher content, he expressed the necessity of this development, emphasising the need to balance publisher and creator contributions. The API will look to enable developers to build diverse applications and experiences around Threads, further expanding its capabilities.
