There is an old saying that there is no short cut to success. Leapfrogging to success is not as easy as it is made out to be, it requires grit and perseverance among other non-negotiable qualities.

Recognising this fact, Dr. Priyank Narayan, Professor, Ashoka University, and Mukesh Sud Professor, IIM Ahemdabad have written a book titled ‘Leapfrog: Six Practices To Thrive At Work'. Talking about these practices Dr. Narayan said, “First is about developing grit, which is having passion and perseverance towards your goals for an extended period of time. There is no shortcut to hard work.” Second chapter is called nudging  which is a behavioral science concept. The idea is to nudge yourself to become more effective. The third is about your ability to understand what you don't know.

“We also talk about the ability to curate, that is, we need to curate from the large amount if information that we do have.” Adds Sud. “We also talk about the power of interdisciplinary thinking.” he further says. This advice makes sense in the present day and age given the kind of challenges we face today, right from climate change to pandemic, no one discipline can look at a problem and really solve it.

Lastly, the book ends with entrepreneurial thinking. This includes the ability to keep on asking and even accepting failure. The book not just talks about these practices, but also ways of implementing them. This book is for everyone  be it students, young professionals or senior executives, and each one can benefit from it.
