Telegram founder Pavel Durov said that he would like to introduce Web 3.0 to the messaging platform in the coming weeks. The reaction from the famed founder came after he was impressed by successful auction undertaken by Telegram Open Network (TON).

Telegram’s project, Telegram Open Network (TON), recently auctioned domain names. This auction saw ‘Wallet.ton’ username sell for USD 2,60,000 and ‘casino.ton’ for USD 2,44,000. The splendid success of the auction has prompted Telegram founder Pavel Durov to consider integrating Web 3.0 to the messaging platform.

Commenting on this, Durov said, “If TON has been able to achieve these results, imagine how successful Telegram with its 700 million users could be if we put reserved @ usernames, group and channel links for auction. In addition to millions of catchy t.me addresses like @storm or @royal, all four-letter usernames could be made available for sale (@bank, @club, @game, @gift etc).”

Elucidating on TON, Duorv said that Telegram team would look into writing smart contracts for TON to try it as the underlying blockchain for a future marketplace for decentralised sales.

In his channel, Durov said that Telegram would work to introduce bit of Web 3.0 to its platform.
