The FMCG arm of Tata Group, Tata Consumer Products (TCPL), has ventured into the health supplements segment by launching ‘Tata GoFit’. Under it, TCPL has launched a plant-based protein powder for women.

In a public statement, Deepika Bhan, President - Packaged Foods (India), Tata Consumer Products said, “Tata GoFit is our endeavor to partner with women on their fitness journey and build a community-first fitness brand.”

This launch also comes as an addition to the firm’s plant-based product range. Tata Consumer had also recently announced having entered the plant-based meat products category under the branding of ‘Tata Simply Better.’

Bhan explained, “India is a protein deficient country and we at TCPL have been finding ways to bridge that gap. With Tata Simply Better we launched mock meat, and with Tata GoFit we're approaching it differently.”

The market opportunity in the segment of health supplements has been recording a surge, with COVID acting as a catalyst. Reports suggest that protein is expected to be a Rs 3,000 crore market by the financial year of 2023. As a powder supplement, the protein as a product category, is expected to have a CAGR of 15 to 20 per cent, as per industry experts.
