The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and MeitY Startup Hub (MSH), in collaboration with Atal Incubation Centre – BIMTECH (AIC-BIMTECH) and Birla Institute of Management Technology (BIMTECH), organised the Startup Kumbh G20-Digital Innovation Alliance on Tuesday. The event witnessed the conglomeration of different startups across the country.

Yogendra Upadhyaya, Minister of Higher Education, Science & Technology, Electronics & Information Technology, Uttar Pradesh, who was also the Chief guest of the event, said that Uttar Pradesh is witnessing a revolution in the startup ecosystem.

Upadhyaya also highlighted the crucial role of the Uttar Pradesh Startup Policy 2020 in creating a holistic environment for the growth of startups.

He further added, “In order to develop and expand the startups, the Uttar Pradesh government has established incubators and accelerators in 23 cities, which are providing financial assistance and networking opportunities to these startups.”

The Minister also informed that UP has 9000 registered startups, which are constantly increasing in number. He also noted that the UP government has founded the innovation hub under the aegis of research at Dr Abdul Kalam Technical University.

Upadhyaya underlined the need for financial backing for the startup and said, “The government is doing its part, but the synergy between society and government will lead to the expansion of the startup ecosystem, and Uttar Pradesh will emerge as the centre of entrepreneurship."

The Startup Kumbh noted the presence of Dr Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH; Jeet Vijay, CEO, MeitY Startup Hub; Akash Tripathi, Joint Secretary, MeitY; Akshay Tiwari, MD, Uttar Pradesh Electronic Corporation, and Dr Abha Rishi, CEO AIC-BIMTECH.

Speaking at the event, Dr Harivansh Chaturvedi, Director, BIMTECH, emphasised the role of startups in dealing with the issues of higher education in India.

The entrepreneurial landscape in India is continuously expanding, and government authorities are providing every possible assistance to strengthen such aspirations.

In the same regard, Akash Tripathi, Joint Secretary, MeitY, shared the upcoming startup policy of GoI as Genesis, which will help the startups of tier 2 and tier 3 cities become future-ready.

As the name suggests, Startup Kumbh resembles the real Kumbh where startups of multiple sectors join the same platform, network with each other, and promote their entrepreneurial ideas to the investors.
