Supreme Court Stays PILs Seeking Corruption Probe Into CM Hemant Soren, His Family

The direction was pronounced as the top court reserved orders on different pleas moved by the Jharkhand Govt and Soren which challenged the June 3 direction of the High Court whereby PILs filed by one Shiv Shankar Sharma was admitted.

The Supreme Court on Wednesday granted stay on further proceedings in three Public Interest Litigations which were pending before the Jharkhand High Court.

The PILs sought a probe by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) into graft charges against chief minister Hemant Soren for alleged offence money laundering through shell companies.

The direction was pronounced as the top court reserved orders on different pleas moved by the Jharkhand Govt and Soren which challenged the June 3 direction of the High Court whereby PILs filed by one Shiv Shankar Sharma was admitted. 

The PILs demanded investigation into the chief minister and his family on account of allocation of mining leases, alleged offence of money laundering through shell companies connected to him and MNREGA contracts of 2010.
