Vistara, the Indian airline jointly owned by Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines, is facing a new challenge due to supply issues and an increase in staff - a shortage of uniforms for its cabin crew.

In an update titled "Important Update," Vistara announced on its Twitter account that it is currently experiencing limited availability of cabin crew uniforms. The airline attributed this situation to an unforeseen problem with the supply of materials.

As a result, some cabin crew members will temporarily wear black trousers and polo t-shirts featuring the Vistara logo instead of the usual aubergine-coloured uniform. The airline acknowledged that this is “not an ideal measure."

The global aviation industry has been grappling with various shortages as travel demand quickly recovers from the pandemic's lows. These shortages range from new aircraft and engines to flight crew and baggage handlers.

Vistara, currently undergoing a merger with Air India, assured its customers that it is actively collaborating with suppliers to resolve the uniform shortage. The airline's primary focus remains on providing “world-class customer service” despite this challenge.
