Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu: An Incredible Journey To Top Political Ladder

During his sworn-in ceremony, he said, "I assure the people of my state that I will make every possible effort to work according to their expectations"

Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took oath on Sunday in Shimla as the 15th Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh after Congress win the legislative assembly polls on 8 December 2022.

Amid the issue of whom to be the CM-- Sukhu's name has been moved forward by Pratibha Singh, a state party president. Although, Sukhu has also been praised for his grassroots knowledge of the state's politics and organisational skills.

Sukhu commenced his political career after joining the Congress student wing National Students's Union of India in the late 1980s. He led the NSUI state unit from 1989-95.

He has also been a four-time incumbent MLA of the Nadaun assembly constituency of the state.
He also served as president of the state Youth Congress from 1998-2008.

He has also won the municipal election twice in Shimla, and in 2008, he represented as secretary of the state unit.

From 2007 to 2012, Sukhu was also the chief whip of the Congress Legislature Party (CLP).

From 2013-2019, he also served as the president of the Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee.

A native of Hamirpur district, he was born on 27 March 1964 in Sera village of Nadaun tehsil.
Sukhu's father has worked as a driver in the Himachal Road Transport Corporation in Shimla, while his mother is a homemaker.

He is a graduate of Himachal Pradesh University with a lawyer's degree.
