Sukhu Takes Charge As Himachal CM, Promises Zero Tolerance Towards Corruption

Taking charge on Monday, Sukhu said that he and his team will target at implementing all the guarantee schemes in the state and a Transparency Act would be brought to ensure zero tolerance towards corruption

The new Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu took charge of his office on Monday 12 December 2022. Sukhu, who was sworn in as the 15th chief minister on Sunday alongwith Mukesh Agnihotri as the Deputy Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh, said that he will ensure that all the promises made by the Congress party during the campaigning are fulfilled from the first meeting itself. 


Taking charge on Monday, Sukhu, who belongs to the Congress party, said that his cabinet will be expanded soon after consultation with the Congress High command. He said that he and his team will target at implementing all the guarantee schemes in the state and a Transparency Act would be brought to ensure zero tolerance towards corruption. 


A four-time MLA from the Nadaun constituency in Himachal Pradesh and the head of the Congress’s election committee, Sukhu is one of the most popular leaders of the party and is also credited for the party’s success in the recent assembly elections. He is believed to be close to the Gandhi family, and it was evident with the presence of Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi at his oath-taking ceremony.
