Sony Xperia XZ2 With Snapdragon 845 Launched At MWC 2018

Sony Xperia XZ2 has Android Oreo, Snapdragon 845 but no 3.5mm audio-jack

Japanese electronics giant Sony has launched new flagship smartphone Sony Xperia XZ2 at MXC 2018 in Barcelona.

The handsets run on Android 8.0 Oreo out-of-the-box and powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 processor coupled with 4GB RAM. It has 64GB internal storage which is expandable up to 400GB through a MicroSD card.

Sony XZ2 features a 5.7-inch FHD+ (2160x1080) Triluminos HDR display with 18:9 ratio and Corning Gorilla Glass 5.

 It sports a 19-megapixel Motion Eye Rear camera with a 1/2.3” Exmor RS for mobile memory stacked sensor which has 5x faster image scanning for sharper motion images. This camera records 960 frames per second for super slow motion playback. On the front is a 5-megapixel camera with 23mm wide angle f/2.2 lens.

The dual-SIM handset is backed by a 3,180mAh battery which also supports wireless charging. It comes with Qnovo Adaptive Charging technology and battery care which adjusts the charging current to avoid damage and maximise its lifespan.

There is also a rear-mounted fingerprint sensor with which the phone can be unlocked.

Connectivity options are- Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.0, 4G VoLTE, NFC, USB Type-C 3.1, and Location. It measures 153 x 72 x 11.1mm and weighs 198 grams. Sony has ditched the 3.5mm audio-jack and the audio is routed through USB Type-C adaptor. Price and availability of the handset will be announced later.
