Sonia Gandhi, the chairperson of the Congress Parliamentary Party (CPP) headed a meeting to brainstorm over the Indo-China border disputes and to discuss the strategy for the remainder of the winter session with all party MPs in Parliament on Wednesday.

The meeting took place at the central hall of Parliament with the presence of Congress Party President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of the Congress in Lok Sabha Adhir Ranjan along with the MPs.

The Congress will also stage a protest in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue in the Parliament complex to demand discussions on the border disputes with China. Other opposition party members and leaders are also expected to join the protest.

Slamming the government, Gandhi said that the centre is stubborn to refuse discussion on the recent Indo-China disputes and the latest Chinese transgressions along the Line of Control (LOC) in Arunachal Pradesh's Tawang region, calling it an insult to democracy.

She further questioned the centre about why they are not sending any financial reply to the Chinese transgression.

The general public and parliament are not able to know the real situation at the border because the government is being adamant and not willing to hold a discussion on this matter, she added.
