Shoppers Stop, one of India’s leading and oldest department store chains, is planning value format stores to lure middle-segment customers.

According to a media report, the company is looking to open stores on the lines of Zudio and Max to capture larger market share.

After three decades of selling premium apparel and lifestyle merchandise, Shoppers Stop’s entry into mass-priced segment is  aimed at growth, especially as the company’s competitors have demonstrated mixed success in the mass segment.

The company will begin value formats trial run in tier two cities before taking it into metros.

Shoppers Stop posted a net profit of Rs 23 crore for the first quarter that ended on June 30, 2022. The revenue from operations stood at Rs 948.44 crore against Rs 205.23 crore in the first quarter of 2021-22 fiscal.
