Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff on Sunday announced the appointment of Denise Dresser as the next Chief Executive Officer of Slack. Dresser is a seasoned professional with a 12-year tenure at Salesforce and currently serves as the president of accelerated industries within the company.

Benioff took to X to express his confidence in Dresser, describing her as an "incredible business leader and champion of Salesforce customer success and innovation."

The transition in leadership comes as Lidiane Jones, who has led Slack for less than a year, is set to depart at the end of this year. Jones will take on the role of CEO at Bumble starting 2 January, succeeding Whitney Wolfe Herd, the dating-app company's founding CEO. This succession marks a significant shift for Slack, which was acquired by Salesforce in 2021.

Jones assumed the position of CEO at Slack at the beginning of the year, following the departure of Stewart Butterfield, the founding CEO of the messaging platform. The incoming CEO, Denise Dresser, will be stepping into a dynamic environment, becoming Slack's third CEO in approximately a year, reflecting a period of notable changes within the leadership of both Slack and Salesforce.

This leadership shakeup extends beyond Slack, as Salesforce has experienced a series of executive departures over the past year. Notable exits include co-CEO Bret Taylor, Tableau CEO Mark Nelson, Chief Revenue Officer Gavin Patterson, Chief Business Officer Ebony Beckwith and others.
