Salesforce is undergoing a significant management reshuffle following its slowest quarterly revenue growth since 2010, according to media reports. The CEO, Marc Benioff, has made changes at the top, appointing Miguel Milano as the chief revenue officer and Ariel Kelman as the chief marketing officer.

Miguel Milano is returning to Salesforce after a tenure at software company Celonis, bringing his previous experience of nearly a decade with the company. Ariel Kelman, who has held positions as the chief marketing officer at Amazon Web Services and Oracle, will now take charge of Salesforce's marketing efforts. Meanwhile, Kendall Collins, former CMO at Okta and Cisco's AppDynamics, will assume the role of chief of staff for Benioff.

Brian Millham, the President and Chief Operating Officer of Salesforce, will be taking on additional responsibilities, including marketing, employee success, and business technology. This move positions Millham as a potential successor to Benioff, according to Insider.

These appointments come at a time when Salesforce is facing pressure from activist investors, such as ValueAct, Inclusive Capital and Starboard Value. These investors have been advocating for operational improvements, cost-control initiatives and enhanced efficiencies.

Earlier this year, Salesforce announced plans to close some offices and reduce its workforce by 10 per cent due to the impact of the pandemic-induced hiring, which resulted in an oversized workforce.

The overall growth of major cloud players, including Microsoft and Amazon, has been under pressure this year as businesses tighten their belts to cope with rising interest rates and the potential for an economic slowdown.
