SAP Labs on Monday began the construction of its second campus in Bengaluru which is expected to accommodate 15,000 employees.

Sindhu Gangadharan, MD and SVP, SAP Labs India, performed the ground breaking for the new facility. Coming up close to the Bengaluru International Airport, the new campus will span 41.07 acre.

First phase of the facility is expected to be operational by 2025. This campus will double down on minimising environmental impact, and focus on employee wellness and inclusivity, said the company.

In a statement, Gangadharan said, “As SAP Labs India marks its 25th Anniversary this year, we are deepening our investments in India with a new 41-acre campus that would create 15,000 new jobs in Bangalore. This campus in Devanahalli, North Bangalore will be a reflection of SAP’s vision towards minimising environmental impact and is designed to be Net Zero, Water Positive, and Carbon Neutral in operations.”

SAP’s presence in Karnataka, its largest R&D hub, contributes 40 per cent of the global company’s overall R&D. The new campus further strengthens SAP’s commitment to India and to Karnataka, SAP said.
