Rajkumar Hirani, an immensely versatile director has given us yet another fabulous film this year. Sanju, being the director’s fifth film in these 15 years is proving its worth in the markets. The director has so far given 3 All-Time Blockbusters, 1 Blockbuster, and 1 Hit film and 0 flop films!

Hirani is a phenomenal director who not only graces the box office with success but also helps the actors in his film to achieve more heights of success and boost in their careers. And most importantly, he gives an exceptional touch to his films by delivering powerful messages with humour touched scripting, thereby not at all ignoring the fact that what his audience expect from the films. He is Bollywood’s asset when it is about making such quality of films that are made to impact every genre of audience and critics as well.

Rajkumar Hirani said in an interview to a reporter, “Actually, if you look at my ideas, they're very middle-class ideas yaa, all my characters are middle-class characters, the scale may be bigger or smaller depending on the story." "When I made my first film, people said, 'Are you mad? You're setting it in a hospital, you're not shooting outside India...'," he adds, "For me, successful films were what Karan Johar did, what Yash Raj did. Those were big films, I was making a small film, but it found success commercially. “Cinema is all about entertaining. My principal motto is, ‘I shall entertain’. Nobody walks into the theatre to be preached to or to learn something. So I have to be sure that whatever I do, even when I have a message to deliver, it must be done in a manner that is highly entertaining. Cinema is storytelling, and, storytelling is about entertaining. At the same time, it is a commentary on reality.”

Boman Irani says, “He is no different on the sets than he is elsewhere. He is a great conversationalist. But the reason why he's a great filmmaker is that he considers the opinion of everyone. He's very open to criticism. There is nothing highfalutin about him, despite all the success."

Reflecting back to the history, Hirani was born in Nagpur in a middle-class family, his father being a Siddhi Refugee from Pakistan, who constructed his life in India from nothing. Hirani’s father wanted him to become a chartered accountant but on his refusal he agreed and got his son admitted to the field of theatres, acting, writing and directing. In an interview, Hirani recalled of his movie’s scene and said, "That scene in 3 Idiots where Madhavan goes to his father and tells him that he doesn't want to be an engineer, it comes from my own life. I really had to muster the courage to go to my dad and tell him I don't want to become a chartered accountant, and he just looked at me and said, 'Okay, don't'."

The beginning of his directorial career began in 2003. Rajkumar Hirani made Munna Bhai MBBS starring Sanjay Dutt. The movie was a huge hit, it procured lots of love from the audience and critics as well. In fact, IMDb rated the movie as 8.2/10. Made with a budget of merely Rs 10 crore, the movie earned Rs 24 crore in India itself and Rs 37 crore worldwide. The movie was not only a kick start for Hirani but also the movie stimulated a boost in Sanjay Dutt’s film career by giving him a huge hit after very long time and at that very time when he was struggling to improve his image in the public and was going through a very bad phase in his life.

The next movie of Hirani came after almost three years. It was the sequel of the first movie. Lage Raho Munna Bhai, yet another hit in the list of Hirani and Dutt too who took away the hearts of the audience once again. The movie was rated extremely well at the IMDb as 8.1/10. Great achievement for the director and actors as well.

Yet another film with an IMDb score of 8.2/10 and this time, a comedy-drama brought Hirani and Aamir together in the year 2014. PK starred Aamir as an alien, bringing in view the themes like superstitions and blind faith with humour touch to entertain the audience and simultaneously give a very powerful message.
