Addressing shareholders at the Annual General Meeting (AGM), N Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Consumer Products, said on Monday that the current operating environment is very volatile and persisting inflation may impact demand across categories. To meet these "short-term hurdles" in this uncertain environment, the company will focus on maintaining strong performance and efficiency, it added.

Chandrasekaran said, "Geo-political tensions, supply chain challenges, and rising inflation in crude oil and many other commodities are driving inflation upwards, which could impact demand across all categories. In this uncertain environment, we will emphasise strong execution, maintain efficiency and focus on seizing opportunities to meet short-term constraints."

Chandrasekaran is also the chairman of Tata Sons, the holding firm of the Tata group. He said that the challenges posed by the pandemic and, more recently, geopolitical tensions, have had a massive impact on people, economies and businesses and have destabilised the economic environment. He said that to meet these unprecedented challenges, we have to think in new ways.
