The entire loan disbursals made through Paytm in the first two months of 2023–24 (April and May) was Rs 9,618 crore, according to a regulatory filing made on Monday by the company's parent One97 Communications Ltd.

In comparison to the same two months last year, this is an increase of 169 per cent over the Rs 3,576 crore total. The platform provided loans of Rs 5,502 crore alone in May.
When compared to the same period last year, when there were 5.5 million loans, the overall number increased by 54 per cent to 8.5 million.

The distribution of postpaid and personal loans is still expanding. We collaborate with sizable NBFCs and banks, and we remain committed to the calibre of loans provided through our platform. Our goal for FY24 is to add three to four new lending partners to our present roster of seven, according to the company.

Monthly transaction users (MTUs) of the Paytm mobile application increased by 24 per cent year over year (YoY) to 92 million. Additionally, the total gross merchandise value (GMV), which represents all platform sales, increased by 35 per cent to Rs 2.65 trillion in the first two months of FY24. In the same time frame the previous year, it was Rs 1.96 trillion.

The company stated that "over the past few quarters, our focus has remained on payment volumes that generate profitability for us, either through net payments margin or from direct upsell potential."

It also mentioned that in May, the business signed up 400,000 new businesses to pay for its payment terminals. There are 7.5 million of these retailers worldwide.
