As the Tata Mumbai Marathon nears the countdown for one of the biggest running events in the country, new sponsors like Tata Nexon and Bisleri partner up along with other recognized brands. Participants from over 30 nationalities have registered for all six categories of the races as the marathon will be conducted on the 21st of January, 2018. The entire event has summed up to USD 450,000 and will get to witness some of the top international and national runners.
Mr. N. Chandrasekaran, Chairman, Tata Sons, said, “We are delighted to become the title sponsor of the Tata Mumbai Marathon from 2018. Events like the marathon promote values like grit, tenacity, excellence, perseverance, belief, commitment, and passion that have been a key part of the Tata Group's ethos since its inception, almost 150 years ago. Partnering with India's premier long-distance running event is a great way for the Tata Group to increase our engagement with the community, raise funds for charity as well as create social awareness about the necessity of good health and fitness. As a marathoner, I’m personally proud to support this partnership."
One of the biggest highlights of the event initiated by Procam International is the ‘Inspiration Medal’. The initiative was also further executed by Chlorophyll Labs and it consists of two medals stuck with each other. The inspiration medal according to Chitresh Sinha, Vice President and Head Innovation, Chlorophyll Labs is a unique symbol of victory and inspiration together. The medal at the first glance looks like it is only one but it can be split into two medals: one for the finishers and the other for those who inspired them to run.
Vivek B Singh, Joint MD, Procam International also shared his thoughts and viewpoints on the Inspiration Medal. He said, “It has been on our minds for a long time and Chlorophyll Innovation Labs have been fabulous in helping us achieve this idea behind the inspiration medal. You know they say that you cannot pass the finish line alone and somebody who has inspired you and gone the extra mile so that you could cross the finish line. Hence we decided that it is time that marathoners honor that person by giving a part of them such as a medal. The medals are identical and the words engraved on one of the medals says ‘Finisher’ and the one on the other says ‘Inspiration’."
“As marathoners, we know there is a lot of hard work, effort, and sweat that goes into preparing for the marathon. All through the journey, we get the support and inspiration from someone who is very special. It could be a spouse, a partner, a friend, a pacer or someone you run with day in and day out. Without this support, we will not be able to complete the marathon, and this year, we are changing the whole concept of the finishers medal at the TATA Mumbai Marathon. So that you can share the achievement, your joy with that someone special. I know as a marathoner, it’s an incredible feeling. Go share your joy and spread the happiness," opined Mr. Chandrasekaran when he spoke about the highlight of the TATA Mumbai Marathon 2018.
Moreover, the Tata Mumbai Marathon promoted by Procam International has already helped to raise ₹25 crores, which will help educate children, improve healthcare, provide livelihood opportunities and safeguard the environment in communities across the country. Individuals and companies leverage the platform provided by the event to raise funds and awareness for causes close to their heart.
