Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Nepalese counterpart, Pushpa Kamal Dahal (Prachanda) on Thursday unveiled the e-plaque of the Kurtha-Bijalpura section of the Railway.

The two PMs jointly flagged off an Indian railway cargo train from Bathnaha in Bihar to the Nepal customs yard.

Additionally, the leaders inaugurated the integrated check posts at Rupaidiha in India and Nepalgunj in Nepal, constructed under Indian assistance.  Further, they also unveiled the integrated check posts in India’s Sanauli and Nepal’s Bhairahawa.

Demonstrating their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations, Modi and Dahal set into movement the Gorakhpur-New Butwal substation, a 400 KV cross-border transmission line. Moreover, the foundation stone of Phase II, the Motihari-Amlekhgunj oil pipeline connecting India and Nepal was also laid by them.

The Prime ministers meeting also marked the signing of seven agreements exchanged between India and Nepal focusing on infrastructure development, connectivity, and people-to-people ties, emphasising a shared vision for mutual progress.

The key exchange to mention was a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Sushma Swaraj Institute for Foreign Service, India and the Institute of Foreign Affairs, Nepal, along with other significant MoU for an integrated development check post at Dodra Chandani. Subsequently, the agreement for Lower Arun hydroelectric project was exchanged.

This is Dahal’s fourth visit to India since assuming PM’s office in December last year.
