PM Modi In Lumbini: India, Nepal Sign 6 MoUs

As Prime Minister, this is his fifth visit to Nepal and first to Lumbini. Modi also visited the Mayadevi Temple as the first stop of his one-day visit to Lumbini

Amid Prime Minister Narendra Modi's official visit to Lumbini, Nepal, both sides signed six memorandum of understanding (MoUs) and agreements. 

According to the PMO, MoU was signed between the Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Lumbini Buddhist University on the establishment of Dr Ambedkar Chair for Buddhist Studies

Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and CNAS, Tribhuvan University also signed an MoU on the establishment of ICCR Chair of Indian Studies, it said. 

"Memorandum of Understanding between Indian Council of Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Kathmandu University (KU) on the establishment of the ICCR Chair of Indian Studies," said PMO. 

Also, a memorandum of understanding was signed in collaboration between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal and the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), India

"Letter of Agreement (LoA) between Kathmandu University (KU), Nepal and Indian Institute of Technology (IITM), India (for a joint degree program at master’s level), according to the PMO. 

SJVN and Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) also signed an agreement for the development and implementation of the Arun 4 project. 

Meanwhile,  Modi on Monday arrived in Lumbini, Nepal as part of his official visit, coinciding with the auspicious occasion of Buddha Jayanti.

Modi was received by Prime Minister Bahadur Deuba and his spouse Arzu Rana Deuba and several Ministers from the government of Nepal.
