More than 98 per cent of the ground has been attained for the Maharashtra railways' ambitious bullet train project between Mumbai and Ahmedabad, said the Ministry of Railway on Monday.

The ministry said that docks have been set up for more than 118 kilometres, rafters are being established, and the construction of bullet train stations has also been initiated.

With the change of government in Maharashtra, the despair issues in the project regarding forest clearances and land acquisition seem to have been swamped.

A total of 98.22 per cent of the land has been acquired in Maharashtra; in Gujarat, 98.87 per cent of land has been acquired. In Dadra and Nagar Haveli, 100 per cent of the land has been obtained for the project, the ministry said in a series of tweets.

The bodily progress till 23 November was 24.1 per cent, the ministry said. While nearly 30 per cent of the work has been finished off in Gujarat, in Maharashtra, around 13 per cent has been accomplished so far, it added

The Mumbai-Ahmedabad bullet train project is 508 km, most of which is in Gujarat. In Maharashtra, the National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL), the project's implementing agency has to formulate the Bandra-Kurla Complex and the network in Thane, Virar and Boisar.

As per the officials, all the civil work has been assigned in Gujarat, along with the construction of pillars and all small and big bridges across rivers. The placing of girders on the docks has also begun.

The agreement for building a bullet train station at the Bandra-Kurla Complex and creating a belowground underpass has also been assigned. Pier and girder results will shortly be visible in Maharashtra, like in Gujarat, officials said.

In Gujarat, the construction of bullet train stations has begun in Anand, Surat, Vadodara, Bharuch, Vilimora, Vapi and Navsari districts.
