Online Hiring Activity Witnesses 11% Growth In June: Report

Kolkata (+40 per cent) was found out to be the city with most online hiring activity while Chennai (-12 per cent) witnessed the steepest decline

Indian economy has witnessed 11 per cent year-on-year growth in online recruitment activities in the month of June 2017, according to Monster Employment Index released on Thursday (13 July).

The index released after monitoring 27 industries suggests growth in 20 industries. The industry which saw the maximum growth of 44 per cent in the above mentioned month was banking and financial services. On the other hand, production and manufacturing showed a negative growth of 22 per cent in the same period.

Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, Monster.com, Asia-Pacific and Middle-East said, “India is on the brink of major transformation owing to several economic reforms and digital disruption over the last few months.”

“The Monster Employment Index for June has captured this sentiment reporting 11 percent year on year growth. It was majorly driven by Banking, Financial Services and Insurance sector making Mumbai (up 15 percent) the only metro to have exhibited a double-digit annual growth.”

“The implementation of Goods and Service Tax (GST) is a progressive step and is likely to have an encouraging impact on the job market nudging the overall growth,” he added.

The survey included a real-time review of job activities culled from a large, representative selection of online career outlets, including Monster India.
