Oil companies have released the prices of petrol and diesel today i.e. on May 2. Petrol and diesel prices have been running at the same level for more than three weeks now. Today is the 26th day in a row that prices are stable. The last time on April 6, the price of petrol and diesel was increased by 80 paise.

Oil companies last increased the prices of petrol and diesel on 6 April. Since then there has been no change in the prices of petrol and diesel, which is a big relief, where PM Modi has asked those states to cut oil prices, which have not reduced it yet. In the review meeting of the states regarding corona, PM Modi appealed to the states to reduce VAT on oil. He said that the state governments should give relief to the public by reducing VAT on oil in the interest of the country.

Significantly, in the capital Delhi, BJP workers demonstrated outside the house of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. BJP workers demanded from the Kejriwal government to reduce VAT on petrol and diesel. Central government has asked to reduce excise duty, BJP ruled states have reduced VAT but non BJP states have not reduced VAT.
