The UP government has taken a big decision regarding the grant given to madrasas in Uttar Pradesh. The government will no longer include any new madrasa in the grant list. In the decision of the cabinet on Tuesday, May 17, the UP government has accepted the proposal to exclude madrasas from the grant list.

In fact, in the decision of the Yogi cabinet, the UP government has accepted the proposal to exclude madrasas from the grant list. In such a situation, now no government grant will be given to any new madrasa, but all new madrasas will be excluded from the grant list. However, the old madrasas or the madrasas which are getting grant till now, they will continue to get the grant as before. There will be no change in the status of old madrasas.

In the state, the previous Samajwadi Party had decided to give grants to the permanent recognised madrasas of Aaliya level till 2003 out of the Arab-Persian madrasas during its rule. Aaliya has 9th and 10th level education. Under the policy of the Samajwadi Party government, 100 madrasas were included in the grant list, but 46 madrasas of the same standard were left out during that time, after which some madrasa operators reached the court.

In such a situation, now the Yogi government, in the cabinet decision on May 17, has abolished the policy of SP, through which grants were given to madrasas by including them in the government grant list. The Uttar Pradesh government has accepted the proposal to exclude madrasas from the grant list. Now government grant will not be given to any new madrasa in the state.
