Tata Sons Chairman Natarajan Chandrasekaran says that the Group has no plans on entering the 5G consumer space.

Speaking at the 'Lokmat Maharashtrian of Year 2022' event, Chandrasekaran said that Tata Group exited consumer telecom services space as the losses mounted few years ago.

He said that the company is now focused on providing the necessary technology infrastructure in 4G and 5G for others in the consumer-facing telecom scene.

According to media reports, Tata Group is a front-runner to be the technology infrastructure provider for the state-owned telco Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), which is looking to rollout its 4G services soon.

Chandrasekaran also said that Tata Group is investing in 6G.

He informed the audience that the Group is working on fully indigenous technology in 5G and receiving enquiries regarding the same from organisations.
