Nimbuzz Surpasses 150 Million Users

Nimbuzz, a leading cross-platform global communications solution, has announced that it has surpassed 150 million users worldwide, cementing itself as one of the largest and most popular mobile and web communications platforms in history.

Nimbuzz consolidates voice and video VoIP calls, instant messaging and other data between all major communications platforms - on any mobile device or desktop - for free.

Nimbuzz has addressed a growing global demand for communication services within emerging markets around the world. Responding to the need for multi-language solutions in the ever-expanding global village, it is one of the only such platforms on the market. Thanks to this foresight, the company now boasts more than thirty seven million users in the Middle East and over Forty one million in Rest of Asia including India – comprising more than sixty per cent of Nimbuzz’s total user population.

The free messaging giant has also shown strong growth within the US, providing service to more than 9 million users that rely on Nimbuzz to communicate with friends and family overseas for free. The company has also continued its tradition of maintaining strong developer channels with local carriers and global OEM device manufactures.

Founded in 2006, Nimbuzz reached 50 million users in August 2011 and 100 million in August 2012. The company has enjoyed steady growth, doubling its user base every year. Establishing a foothold in vital emerging markets, Nimbuzz has seen enormous growth in Asia, particularly in India and Saudi Arabia. India is home to more than twenty-five million users, which is about one quarter of the entire mobile Internet population of the country.

Mercedes-Benz India Announces Price Increase
Mercedes-Benz India has announced an increase in price of its entire model range. The increase in price ranges from 1-4 per cent for locally produced models and upto 20 per cent for select CBUs. The price hike will be effective from 1 April 2013.

Eberhard Kern, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India commented, “There are several factors that have put significant pressure on our bottomlines. Rising input costs and volatile exchange rates have impacted us; while the recent changes in import duty structure and increase in relevant taxes have put significant stress on our business. We have absorbed a portion of the impacts but to retain business viability, we are forced to pass on a part of this burden to the consumers".

Despite the increase in prices, the value proposition offered by Mercedes-Benz remains a benchmark. The company recently rolled out its campaign "Merconomics", to ensure the most optimum cost of ownership in the luxury automotive domain. Eberhard Kern elaborated: "We have analyzed every aspect of vehicle ownership starting from finance-leasing-insurance to roadside assistance, cost of service and repairs, going all the way till the residual value offered by the car. Each of these aspects has been optimized under Merconomics with the net result that the customer today can enjoy a hassle free ownership with clear understanding that the cost of ownership over the lifecycle of their Mercedes-Benz is second to none in the comparative domain".

Goibibo Launches ‘Flight Advice’ For International Flights
Goibibo.com, an online travel site launches Flight Advice – a recommendation engine for international flights.

Traditionally flights are sorted based on lowest prices. “Goibibo Flight Advise” learns from user search pattern and then ranks the flights based on its cancellation policy, duration taken, stops, fares etc to deliver the most relevant results. Thereby recommending the least agonizing flights that are not just based on price.

Since its recent launch, more than 45 per cent of Goibibo buyers have used this application. As per the feedback from the travelers:  they find it more convenient to book using this application versus normal booking flow.

Škoda Introduces Rapid EMI Holiday Offer
Škoda Finance has introduced an exciting holiday Offer on the ŠKODA Rapid for a limited period. The new EMI scheme gives customers a chance to buy their own Rapid and pay the EMI a year after the purchase. As a result of the new campaign, consumers can now avail a premium sedan without worrying about paying the EMI in the first year. The balance amount can be paid through unique repayment options thereafter.

Speaking about the offer, Kamal Basu, Marketing Head, ŠKODA Auto India, said that, “Keeping in mind the prevailing market sentiments, we have introduced this innovative scheme for consumers. This offer gives them a great opportunity to own a ŠKODA Rapid, with a convenient re- payment option which is offered to suit their convenience.”

The scheme has been introduced in the Indian market by ŠKODA Finance, a brand of Volkswagen Finance Private Limited and will be available with immediate effect.

SBI Pays Rs 1450 cr Advance Tax
State Bank of India has paid Rs 1450 crore as 4th instalment of Advance Tax for the financial year 2012-13. During the period Income Tax paid at its foreign offices was Rs 160 crore.

Advance Tax paid in aggregate in Indian offices during the year is Rs 6,144 crore. With Rs 736 crore paid at its foreign offices, total tax paid during the year is Rs 6880 crore across all its territories.

Agilent Technologies Introduces High-Sensitivity Multiport Optical Power Meters
Agilent Technologies on 15 March' 2013 introduced the two- channel N7747A and four-channel N7748A to its extensive optical power-meter portfolio. Priced at $20,750,   they will be available to order in May that brings the sensitivity of 81634B sensor module to the compact multichannel N77 platform, with updated memory size and data-transfer speed.
 
The Agilent N7747A and N7748A optical power meters enable engineers to make parallel multiport measurements and monitor weak signals and small signal changes with high precision. Agilent will introduce the N7748A and the N7747A at the Optical Fiber Communication Conference and Exposition (OFC) and National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (NFOEC), March 19-21, at the Anaheim Convention Center (Booth 2719), in Anaheim, Calif.
