New TCS Campus In Kolkata For BPO Professionals

Tata Consultancy Services, a leading company in sofware services, announced its new software development campus at Rajarhat, Kolkata will be functional by the end of the financial year 2014-15.

TCS is spending around Rs 1350 crore in the campus spread over 40 acres of land, once it completed will house over 16,500 seats.

The campus will be built in two phases, with the first phase to be completed in the first quarter of 2014 and the second phase by the fourth quarter of the year. In the first phase 7,000 seats will be ready with the remaining 9,500 seats being completed in phase II.

S. Mahalingam, Chief Financial officer & Executive Director, TCS said, “Our growing presence in Kolkata continues to be of strategic importance for our overall business growth. We remain committed to working in close collaboration with all stakeholders in the state to help development of local talent and provide our customers with world-class IT solutions from this location.”

The Rajarhat campus will offer TCS employees a world-class and holistic work environment with facilities like amphitheatre, auditorium, cafeterias, libraries and large green open spaces. The campus will house fitness facilities like tennis courts, basketball court and gymnasium for employees as well as temporary accommodation.

TCS will use green technologies to make an healthy environment such as 850 kilowatts of Solar power, Zero waste discharge facility with bio digester, sewerage treatment plant which will recycle water for use in landscaping and air conditioning and extensive rain water harvesting over 3500 plants.

Commenting on the new facility, Ajoy Mukherjee, Executive vice president and Global Head, Human Resources said, “The new TCS Rajarhat facility will drive the next phase of our growth in the eastern region and help us access skilled professionals and students from in and around Kolkata. Our investment will also help catalyse further development of the talent and IT ecosystem in the area”.
