Reliance Industries chairman Mukesh Ambani has set his sight on entering the world of the English Premier League. A leading English daily reported that Ambani has entered the race to bid for the English football club Liverpool FC's takeover.

The report by 'The Mirror' stated that the owners of the football club – Fenway Sports Group (FSG), have put the club up for sale and have appointed Goldman Sachs and Morgan Stanley to assist them in selling it.

The report added that FSG is willing to sell the club for 4 billion British pounds.

The daily reported that Mukesh Ambani had shown interest by enquiring about the club.

A statement from FSG read: "There have been a number of recent changes of ownership and rumours of changes in ownership at EPL clubs and inevitably, we are asked regularly about Fenway Sports Group's ownership in Liverpool.

"FSG has frequently received expressions of interest from third parties seeking to become shareholders in Liverpool. FSG has said before that under the right terms and conditions, we would consider new shareholders if it was in the best interests of Liverpool as a club."

The report stated that other parties in the fray are from the Gulf and the USA.
