Monster India Launches Monster Salary Index

Monster India, a leading online career and recruitment solutions providers in the country, in association with (managed by Wage Indicator Foundation) has announced the launch of the ‘Monster Salary Index,’ which provides jobseekers complete information on salaries, labor market data and relevant content concerning labor law and careers.

It aims to empower jobseekers with benchmarking to compare their salaries with millions of anonymous profiles across a broad spectrum of industry domains/experience/functional groups both in India and other global markets. The initiative offers those currently employed, employers and trade unions with information related to salary, working conditions, minimum wages and other work-related issues.

At the core of the Monster India Salary Index is an online Salary Survey launched by the Wage Indicator Foundation and in 2005, with IIM-A as research partner, to understand and develop salary and wage indicators for the Indian market. This detailed salary survey helps in understanding the Indian market and benchmarking against other countries to draw comparisons. The Wage Indicator Foundation surveys cover 70 countries. By working together with and Monster India, the foundation will be able to provide wider coverage for the salary survey.

Speaking at the occasion of the introduction of the index, Sanjay Modi, Managing Director, (India, Middle East, South East Asia) said, “Our customer research and market studies over the years indicate a strong need for a benchmark that provides both employers and jobseekers with comprehensive information pertaining to labor market and salary trends from a single source. We are delighted to work with to launch the Monster Salary Index with IIM-A as a research partner.”

Alcatel-Lucent, Bay of Bengal Gateway Consortium To Build Undersea Cable System
Alcatel-Lucent and a consortium composed of Vodafone Group, Dialog Axiata, Emirates Telecommunications Corporation (Etisalat), Reliance Jio Infocomm, Omantel and Telekom Malaysia, have signed a turn-key contract to deploy a new 100 Gigabit-per-second (100G) submarine cable system to connect Oman, the United Arab Emirates, India, Sri Lanka and Malaysia.

The Bay of Bengal Gateway (BBG) cable system will enhance the robustness and reliability of international connectivity into and out of the six countries via  landing points in Barka (Oman), Fujairah (United Arab Emirates), Mumbai and Chennai (India), Ratmalana (Sri Lanka), Penang (Malaysia) and Singapore.

Commercial operation of the system is planned to start by end of 2014.  It will offer an ultra high design capacity, underpinning the continued growth of new applications and services in the Middle East, the Indian sub-continent and the Far East.

Edward West, Chairman of the BBG Interim Procurement Group said: “BBG, the first system to be lit as 100G on day-1 will be a step change in capacity on this important route.  The bandwidth, resilience and traffic routing of the BBG configuration, and Alcatel-Lucent’s capabilities and track record, give us the confidence that this system will be able to address the fast-evolving expectations of our customers in line with their demands.”

NEC India Appoints New Managing Director
NEC India, a subsidiary of NEC Asia Pacific, has announced the appointment of Partho Dasgupta, as the first Managing Director from India. He will undertake the leadership of NEC's business operations in the local market and report to Toshiya Matsuki, regional CEO at NEC Asia Pacific based in Singapore.

Dasgupta is a veteran in the IT industry, with more than 25-year of experience. He has held key management and leadership positions in three established IT organisations prior to joining NEC India.

Alten group, a technology consulting and engineering and 6Wind, the gold standard for data plane processing in software-defined networks has announced a partnership to deliver Network Functions Virtualization (NFV) and Software-Defined Networking (SDN) solutions to network equipment manufacturers (NEMs) and telecom operators worldwide.
