The former Mahant of Kashi Vishwanath temple, Kulpati Tiwari has counter-attacked RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat's statement of no need to find God in every mosque. He said that Bhagwat is not any Adi Guru Shankaracharya whose words should be accepted.

Tiwari also put BJP in the dock and said that this is not the BJP government led by Atal Bihari Vajpayee. Those were who fought for religion, this is a party fighting for power. Their leaders themselves are making statements in the name of religion everywhere, and now these people are making such statements to please a section.

Significantly, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat had said in his statement that the Gyanvapi controversy involved some issues of faith and the court's decision on it should be universal. There is no need to search for Shivling in every mosque and create a new controversy every day. The Sangh chief said, 'Now the issue of Gyanvapi Masjid (Varanasi) is going on. We cannot change history, because we did not create history, and neither did today's Hindus and Muslims.'

Kulpati Tiwari by replying to Mohan Bhagwat said to the media, "This is a battle of crusades. In this, as the head of the Sangh, you yourself backed down by talking about Hindutva. What is it to be understood?" He said that this is not the earlier BJP which was in 1980 and 1991 during the time of Atal Bihari Vajpayee. He fought for BJP religion. This BJP is fighting for power. Their policies are not known. He added that Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat did not need to get into the middle of this matter. I do not believe in anyone more than Kashi Vishwanath.
