Ministry Of External Affairs Reshuffles Significant Positions

Reports suggest a reshuffle at the ministry of external affairs, with Vipul as joint Secretary handling the Gulf Division to replace Dr Deepak Mittal an Indian ambassador to Qatar, who will now join the Prime Minister’s Office as Joint Secretary replacing Gaurav Shresth, who is headed to Iran as Indian envoy

Dr Shilpak Ambule leaves the head position of the China division in the South Block to be the next Indian ambassador to Singapore, succeeding P Kumaran who will now return to the ministry as a secretary. 

Reports further suggest a reshuffle at the ministry of external affairs, with Vipul as joint Secretary handling the Gulf Division to replace Dr Deepak Mittal an Indian ambassador to Qatar, who will now join the Prime Minister’s Office as Joint Secretary replacing Gaurav Shresth, who is headed to Iran as Indian envoy.  

While the Indian ambassador to Malaysia Mridul Kumar will be now representing Switzerland as the new ambassador. The tenure of the Indian envoy to Austria Jaideep Mazumdar is likely to extend, claims the report.

Shilpak is a 2002 batch IFS officer and has been with EAM Jaishankar since he was Foreign Secretary and even as joint secretary. He is known as the principal aide to the Minister. 

Meanwhile, the new ambassador who is fluent in the Chinese language is likely to hold in good stead in Chinese-dominated Singapore.
