The civil aviation ministry announced on Wednesday that masks and face covers are not mandatory, but passengers should prefer to use them while travelling by air.

Amid the decline of Covid-19 cases, the ministry stated that the action has been taken under the graded approach to Covid management response.

Till now, it was mandatory to use face masks and covers while air travelling.

The recovery rate has been increased to 98.79 per cent, as per recent govt data.

The notification further stated that any specific reference to fine/penal action need not be announced as part of the in-flight announcements.
