The meeting will also ensure readiness in the availability of oxygen support, ICU beds, and other preparedness measures against the surge of Covid cases in India
The union Health minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, will hold a virtual meeting with the Indian Medical Association (IMA) today, as stated by IMA. The minister is set to discuss concerns regarding the Covid-19 situation and preparedness at 4 pm. On Saturday, Mandaviya said that the government has been working to control the spread of Covid-19 and urged the people to follow covid appropriate behaviour by wearing masks and sanitizing hands.
"We are working on alert mode to control the spread of Covid-19 and are conducting environmental, sewage and human surveillance. Virus RNA was found in the sewage samples in Delhi and Mumbai," Mandaviya added. In light of the recent increase in Covid infection in many countries, the Union Ministry has decided to hold mock drills on December 27 at all health facilities across the country. The meeting will also ensure readiness in the availability of oxygen support, ICU beds, and other preparedness measures against the surge of Covid cases in India.
In India, Christmas was celebrated without restrictions on Sunday for the first time in two years, as the government continues to monitor the Covid situation. However, its neighbour, China, deals with what is currently being called the worst outbreak recently.
According to information from a National Health Commission study that was leaked and widely quoted, 18% of China's population, or more than 200 million people, have contracted the virus this month. Authorities in India, meantime, have been reminding people to wear masks, make sure to use sanitizers, and to keep their guard up.
Bharati Pravin Pawar, the Minister of State for Health and Family Welfare, also tweeted that she took a review meeting of UT health officials and reviewed their preparedness for efficient management of Covid 19.
